SPRING

I LOVE Spring. It's awesome. It's the type of weather where you can just where a sweater and it's completely warm. I love how the bugs don't come out either, haha. I HATE bugs. Spring has a lot of rain too. However, I am used to rain because I lived in Seattle and it rains like...every day HAHA.

In the Spring time, I like to go outside and play on the playground HAHA. In the Spring time, we have a break which is ten days. We might go somewhere. I hope we go somewhere though. Last year, we went to Australia! It was amazing.

In the Northern Hempisphere, the vernal equinox occurs at March 20th. In the Southern Hemisphere, it usually occurs in late September. The axis of the Earth tilts toward the Sun more. The temperature is mildly warm. People enjoy going on picnics during this time. :D The first flower that occurs during the Spring is the crocus flower. Since we're studying about Greek Mythology, I'll explain why there is Spring in a SUPER SHORT summary. When Demeter's daughter, Persephone, was kidnapped by Hades, it became winter. Whenever it's Spring it means that Demeter and Persephone are reunited together though. :)

Below is picture of flowers and below the picture of flowers is a picture is a crocus. :)

Random Stuff in Three Different Paragraphs!! HAHA

1. Australia.
My dad is leaving tomorrow night to go to Australia. It's going to be quiet without him HAHA. My dad and I are the loud ones in the house mostly. I LOVE Australia. It's amazing. My dad's SO lucky. HAHA. I hope he gets me this book that I want. The book comes out early in Australia because the author is Australian, haha. Also, there's these chips that I LOVE that only is in Australia. It's called Thins. IT'S SO AMAZING!! <3 Anyway, I hope my dad has a safe trip. :(

2. The Imaginaruim of Doctor Parnassus
This movie is so amazing (URG I keep saying "amazing" over and over again!). It's really complicated. You have to watch it more than once to completely understand it. It's about this traveling troupe that performs. Their leader makes bets with the devils. Their bets are about who can get the most souls, basically (kind of). They take the audience members through the mirrorworld, which is basically the mind of Doctor Parnassus and they are presented with many choices between good and evil and all that stuff. This was Heath Ledger's last movie. He died while filming. :( Some other famous actors are Andrew Garfield, Johnny Depp, and Jude Law.

3. My friends. HAHA.
Some of my awesome friends are Sarah, Jasmine, Rachel, and Jina. Sarah is the outgoing funny person. Jasmine is the one who likes to play sports and listens to Big Bang. Rachel is the carefree person and likes to have fun. Jina is the creative and carefree like Rachel, haha. They're cool, haha. :)

Earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand

Quite recently, a 6.3 earthquake has struck the city, Christchurch. The aftershocks were counted as 5.5 and 5.6. Hundreds of victims are injured and some are still stuck in the rubble of the aftermath. This terrible disaster occured early afternoon at Tuesday, just before 1 P.M. Multiples of fatalities occured, such as the Anglican Cathedral collapsing.

For one of the questions, it says to say how the earthquake occured. Since we're learning about Greek mythology, I'm going to explain about it in a mythologic way. :) Atlas, the strongest of the all the Titans, was sent (after being defeated by Zeus and his family) to carry the vault of the sky on his shoulders. Whenever Atlas was tired, and shifted the sky onto the other shoulder, it apparently creates a earthquake. Now, in 5th grade, I remember reading this book, and it says whenever the plates of the Earth shift and overlap eachother, it creates in earthquake. :)

Anti-Laser Created by the Yale University

This device, created by a certain group of people at Yale Univeresity, created a machine that can absorb an incoming laser. Though these scientists believe it is not believed for study of weapons. They will be using it for future generation supercomputers. These supercomputers will use light energy instead of electron currents.

As quoted from the website (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-12453893) :

"Recent advances in laser design have resulted in a number of unusual devices that do not fit the traditional concept of a laser, Professor Stone explained. "So we were working on a theory that could predict what could be used to form a laser," he said. That theory also predicted that instead of amplifying light into coherent pulses, as a laser does, it should be possible to create a device that absorbs laser light hitting it, said Professor Stone - an anti-laser. Their device focuses two lasers beams of a specific frequency into a specially designed optical cavity made from silicon, which traps the incoming beams of light and forces them to bounce around until all their energy is dissipated. In a paper published in the journal Science they demonstrated that the anti-laser could adsorb 99.4 per cent of incoming light, for a specific wavelength."

What are my opinions? I think it's rather scary. What if this was used in a bad way? Like, what if two bad guys took the machine, and used for defenses in a different country, and everything would be pretty chaotic. Even if it WAS used for supercomputers though, I think it should be protected very well. It could still be weapon. Now, if it was protected, and no one stole it or anything, I think the ideas of supercomputers running on light energy would be amazing. No one has though of that, and that technology would be so advanced. I just hope it's used wisely. :)

(There is no picture of the anti-laser, so I got a picture of a scientist working on it...)

Service Projects

I have never actually DID a service project. I only made things for the Christams Bazaar, or buy Dongdaewon T-Shirts. What is service to me? To me, service is to do something to help someone by giving all of your effort and time selflessly. I want to participate in service projects as I grow older, because I haven't done any...

To me, a good service project would be going somewhere out of the country, and giving effort and time into the service project. Like, in the high school, for Discover Days, one choice is to go the Phillipines and help out in the orphanage. I would like to do that for Discovery Days, because I get to help out people. If you help out people, than you have a good feeling inside of you. :) Also, I was thinking about the summer programs (we learned about these programs in 5th grade) and it was talking about going to the countryside and helping out in the orphanages.

BOOKS

I LOVE books. I have lot's of reasons, haha. Books are like places where you can escape to, where no one else can bother you. :) Books can make you feel better (well, for me), and keeps you busy if you want to waste time. :D Sure, not all books may be fun, but they give you things to think about. :)

Some more reasons are that books are so different from eachother. And all of them have different styles, so there will always be some books out there that will be your most favorite. :) Stories always have a introduction, plot, and ending, though the stories have thick details or interesting facts. For example, you know lately there has been so much books about supernatural stuff, like vampires? Those books have like the same main idea (about how the main character is just an average ordinary girl, but then one day a guy who is most likely a vampire comes around and they fall in love but they can't and all that stupid stuff about "forbidden love") but they have different story lines and different styles.

My favorite kinds of books are like the ones that are science fiction mixed in with a LOT of action and mystery. I never really liked books where the main idea is always used too much like the supernatural kind of books these days. I like something original. :) My most favorite book right now would probably be Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld. (Though I have too much to list here, HAHA).

No More Deforestation :)

Why should we stop deforestation? We should deforestation because of many different reasons. For example, animals are being ripped out of their habitations. What if you were taken away from your house? That's not very nice, haha. Anyway, since the animal's habitations are being taken away, they are becoming endangered, and could possibly be extinct. We might need those animals for future purposes! (I think...)

Another reason is that we need trees. Trees absorb the bad things in the air, and than in exchange, it gives out fresh air. What would happen if we cut all the trees? There would be no more fresh air. So, basically we would all die. :) Also, the trees are needed for paper. We need paper for multiple reasons, such as print necassary information, have practice sheets for students, let students take notes, and the list goes on.

NO MORE DEFORESTATION!!! :)

What is Beauty to Me?

I believe art is beauty. Art is beauty because all of them are different and unique in it's own way. Not one piece of art is the ever the same. All the colors, textures, and lines are so special in their own way. Paintings and drawings all have a meaning behind the art. Art is kind of like people. People are all different mentally AND physically, like art. Art can come in any shape or size, and all of them are beautiful in their own ways. Below is a drawing that I especially like. It's called Nocturne by gdwsmokey. (I think...)

For me, beauty is everything for people. For me, I don't really care about looks. All I mostly care about is the personality. I don't hang out with pretty people that are mean or whatever. I think that's dumb. I like to hang out with people who understand my personality.  People vary in so many different ways. That's because God makes us like that.
